Alder Cottage

Alder Cottage stands by a stream at the foot of the Blackdown Hills in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The owners house and Netherclay Livery Centre, horses welcome, is 150 metres away.

We are 28 miles from the both the north and south coasts with Exmoor to the north and the World Heritage Jurassic Coast to the south, Lyme Regis particularly is worth a visit, the West Somerset Steam Railway is 6 miles away running from Taunton to Minehead on the north coast of Somerset.

The Neroche Herepath walk and bridle path starts here and goes for 13 1/2 miles into the surrounding hills and woodlands with scenic views over the Vale of Taunton Deane to the Quantock hills.

Near us there are three golf courses, Taunton Racecourse, the Polo fields at Orchard Portman, two fishing lakes, one our own managed by Taunton Angling Association.

Taunton 3 miles, Junction 25 of the M5 is 6 miles, country pubs serving good food and shops are all within 3 miles.  Taunton station 4 miles, Somerset County Cricket Ground; home of England's Ladies Cricket Team and Somerset County team, 4 miles.

Accommodation

Alder Cottage is a 2 bed wheelchair-friendly cottage and sleeps 4 + cot, all on one level.

Bedroom 1 has a double bed with an en suite shower room and bedroom 2 has  two single beds with its own shower room, not en suite.

The cottage has an open plan kitchen, stocked with basics to get you going and is equipped with an electric cooker, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, washing machine and tumble drier. There is oil-fired central heating and a hot water supply. 

The dining/lounge area has original beams and double doors which open on to a patio to the front of the cottage with a gas barbeque and garden furniture, all within a large enclosed garden.

There is a short drive with parking for four cars.

We offer in-house catering, please call us to discuss options available. 

Pets are welcome, smoking is not permitted.
